CBC P.E.I. takes home 2 East Region RTDNA awards

CBC Prince Edward Island's digital team was the winner of two East Region Radio Television Digital News Association awards.

RTDNA Canada awards honour the best journalists, programs, platforms, stations and newsgathering organizations in audio, digital and video.

CBC P.E.I. received the award for overall excellence in digital for 2025 during the ceremony Thursday night in Halifax.

The Island team also earned a win in the opinion category for Lynn Paulin's First Person piece, I'm childless by choice. Having my fallopian tubes removed in my 30s helped me trust my gut.

The article centres on Paulin's reasoning for not having children, and her decision to undergo tubal ligation in her 30s.

First Person articles are original pieces that feature the personal stories of Islanders, written in their own words. Contributors collaborate over several weeks with editors on the digital team who help them fine-tune their work before it's published.

CBC P.E.I. was also nominated for RTDNA awards in the following categories:

News — live special events: Island Morning's live show in Crapaud.

TV newscast (small/medium market): CBC News: Compass.
