Carney says 4 service members killed in military base fire
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney says four service members were killed and dozens were seriously injured in a major fire at a military base in the western part of the country.
The blaze occurred on Saturday at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright in the province of Alberta.
At a news conference held on Sunday, Carney described the fire as "one of the worst tragedies for the Forces on Canadian soil in peacetime."
The prime minister did not mention what caused the fire, but he said it broke out during military training.
Authorities are investigating the details.
A local TV network initially reported that at least seven people had been killed, citing military sources.
