Captain Alphonso Davies, goalkeeper Max Crepeau to miss Canada's World Cup homecoming games

30th-ranked club to face No. 49 Chile in Toronto and No. 50 Peru in Montreal

Canada's men's soccer team will be without key players for a pair of friendlies in Toronto and Montreal.

Captain Alphonso Davies and goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau are both absent from the 26-player roster released by head coach Jesse Marsch on Tuesday.

Canada Soccer says in a release Bayern Munich star Davies was "unavailable for selection due to the celebration of his marriage and honeymoon" while Orlando City's Crepeau could not be called into camp due to a personal matter.

Also absent is centre back Moise Bombito, who announced last month he would undergo another surgery on his left tibia after pushing through pain at this summer's FIFA World Cup.

Marsch's squad includes 17 players who were on the national team that made a historic World Cup run before being eliminated by Morocco in the Round of 16.

Canada, currently ranked 30th in the world, is set to face No. 49 Chile in Toronto on Sept. 26 before taking on No. 50 Peru in Montreal on Oct. 3. The Canadians will then face the 16th-ranked United States in St. Paul, Minn., on Oct. 6.
