Canada post issues alerts for service disruption in many B.C. communities due to wildfires

Canada Post is temporarily halting service for several communities in B.C. due to wildfires and poor air quality.

A red alert, which means suspension of delivery for the day and no delivery agents available for delivery and recall, has been issued for the following communities:

The mailing service has issued a yellow alert, which means it will try its best to deliver, but there may be delays, for the following communities:

“Delivery will resume once conditions improve and it’s safe to do so,” said Canada Post.

Alerts for delivery service are posted on delivery service alerts and on canadaposthelps X account.

Free mail forwarding is available for residents and businesses in 70 Mile House, Boston Bar and Clinton. Impacted residents can register until Aug. 24 and get the service for free for up to 12 months.

To request the free service, affected customers will need to either:– register at canadapost.ca/mailforward using a credit card; or– go to a post office with a government-issued photo ID (mandatory). Proof of authorization is required to request the free service on behalf of another person.– Important note: Customers will be required to purchase the Mail Forwarding service using a credit card and Canada Post will issue an automatic refund.
