On Tuesday, the federal government announced Calgary-based SmartGro is receiving nearly $900,000 to help develop its system, which uses pulsing LED lights, plant sensors and artificial intelligence. As CBC's Bryan Labby reports, the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food says the technology has the potential to help farmers grow more food while using less electricity.
