Bank of Canada keeps interest rate steady at 2.25% amid U.S. tariffs and Iran war
The Bank of Canada is holding its key interest rate steady at 2.25 per cent. In his announcement, Governor Tiff Macklem said the bank is navigating two key risks: the trade dispute with the U.S. and the continuing conflict in the Middle East. Vancity’s chief economist Judith Bosire joins the CBC's Janella Hamilton to talk about the seventh straight time the central bank has held the rate steady.
