Alcon announced plans to present new research across dry eye disease, contact lenses and contact lens care at Academy 2026, the American Academy of Optometry annual meeting, taking place September 30 to October 3 in Anaheim, California.
The company’s scientific program will include research related to Tryptyr (acoltremon ophthalmic solution) 0.003% and Alcon’s broader dry eye portfolio. Meeting attendees will also have opportunities to explore the company’s technologies through its WaterInnovations Immersive Experience, Marlo demonstrations and an Innovation Suite featuring Voyager Direct Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (DSLT) and the Valeda photobiomodulation (PBM) device.
Alcon said its dry eye research at the meeting will examine patient satisfaction, symptoms and quality of life across its pharmaceutical and over-the-counter portfolio.
The studies will address areas including treatment satisfaction, effects of dry eye on daily activities and work, patient-reported symptoms, tear film measures and meibomian gland function.
Featured dry eye posters include "Comparing Patient-Reported Symptoms in Perfluorohexyloctane Ophthalmic Solution and Systane Pro Users" and "Assessing Meibomian Gland Function in Dry Eye Subjects Treated with PFHO or Systane Pro."
The meeting will also include research examining the experiences of patients with dry eye disease treated with acoltremon ophthalmic solution 0.003%. The studies will assess quality of life, daily functioning and treatment satisfaction.
Tryptyr-focused posters include Evaluating the Impact of Acoltremon 0.003% on a Subject’s Quality of Life and Ability to Perform Work and Understanding the Satisfaction of Symptomatic Lifitegrast Patients Who Switched to Acoltremon.
Alcon will also present research examining contact lens performance, wearer experience and patient and eye care professional needs. According to the company, the research includes studies of weekly replacement and daily disposable lenses, examining factors such as vision, comfort, digital device use and patient satisfaction.
Featured presentations include "Performance and Safety Evaluation of Weekly Replacement Serafilcon A Compared to Biweekly Replacement Senofilcon A Silicone Hydrogel Contact Lenses" and "Evaluation of Wear Experience with a Weekly Replacement Toric Contact Lens in Neophyte Wearers."
