Air Canada jet runs off taxiway at Montreal airport
Operations at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport were disrupted Thursday afternoon after Air Canada Flight 774 from Los Angeles “exited the taxiway upon landing,” a statement from the airport said.
No one was injured in the incident, it said, but the north runway was closed while the aircraft was evacuated.
Flight AC774, from Los Angeles to Montréal, operated by a Boeing 737 MAX, exited the taxiway upon landing at @yulaeroport, at approximately 4pm. There are no reported injuries.
Data from flight tracking website FlightRadar24 shows AC774, a Boeing 747 Max 8, landed just before 4 p.m. on Runway 6 Left, then turned onto Taxiway B1 but appears to have overshot a right turn onto Taxiway B, which runs parallel to the runway.
A playback of data from the flight’s ADS-B data shows the plane was still slowing down from its rollout when it left the runway at almost 50 knots (100 kilometres per hour), and was at about 23 knots (45 km/h) when it entered the 150-degree turn that led to it ending up in the grass. FlightRadar24 warns the data are not precise and could deviate significantly from actual conditions.
Rain was falling on the airport at the time of landing, increasing risks for hydroplaning.
