'Active search' underway amid possible drowning at B.C.'s Cultus Lake

RCMP say 13-year-old girl fell into lake after suspected medical emergency

RCMP said they were called to reports of a possible drowning at Cultus Lake, near Chilliwack, B.C., on Saturday.

Police said they were called about a missing 13-year-old girl, believed to be in the lake, around 1:20 p.m. PT.

The teen, who was not wearing a life jacket, is believed to have suffered a medical emergency while floating on a paddle board and fallen into the water, RCMP said in a media release.

RCMP, firefighters, paramedics and Chilliwack Search and Rescue were deployed to the lake and were searching for the girl Saturday afternoon.

Police are asking people to avoid the Entrance Bay area of the lake due to the active search operation.
