97-year
Aug. 5 (UPI) -- A British woman broke her own Guinness World Record when she went wing-walking at the age of 97, just one year after suffering a stroke.
Cheltenham resident Betty Bromage, who has been wing walking six times since she was 87, completed her latest stunt on Tuesday, when she was 97 years and 127 days old.
The successful outing at RFC Rendcomb Airfield in Cirencester broke her own Guinness World Record for the oldest female wing walker. She previously set the record at the age of 93 in 2022.
"I'd just get bored of life otherwise. I can't drive, I can't see very well and I get a bit frustrated. So, I want to do the things I can do," Bromage told the BBC.
Bromage suffered a stroke in August 2025 that still affects her speech. Her wing walk raised money for the stroke unit at Cheltenham General Hospital, where she was cared for last year.
"They treated me so well. It affects my words but the rest of me is fine," she said.
