64-year-old woman dead after being struck by dump truck in Ajax: police
Driver of the dump truck stayed at the scene, cooperating with Durham police
Durham police say a 64-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a dump truck in Ajax on Saturday.
Officers responded to calls for a pedestrian struck by a dump truck near Hunt Street and Harwood Avenue S. around 3:50 p.m. Saturday, the Durham Regional Police Service said in a news release Sunday.
They said the dump truck was taking a right turn onto Hunt Street when it hit the woman. She was later pronounced dead at the scene, said police.
The driver of the truck remained at the scene and has been cooperating with police, they said.
Police said the cause of the collision is still under investigation.
