Rathrevor Beach in Parksville has been named one of Canada’s top five beaches, for the second year in a row.

Research by Spin Casino compared visitor ratings, reviews and mentions of the words “beautiful”, “clean”, “peaceful” and “romantic” to find out which beaches in Canada offer the best overall experience, according to a news release.

Home to a sandy beach that at low tide stretches nearly 1.5 kilometres out into the Strait of Georgia, Rathrevor Beach Provincial Park held onto its spot from last year’s research as third in the list of best beaches in Canada.

With 94 per cent of reviewers awarding the beach four stars or more, and 32 per cent praising its unspoilt natural beauty, the park is regarded by visitors as one of Canada’s most tranquil beach destinations.

As the tide retreats by almost a kilometre, the expansive shoreline becomes perfect for exploring and visitors may spot bald eagles soaring overhead or seals basking just offshore.

The beach also received the highest number of mentions of peacefulness in visitor reviews of any destination analyzed.

Chesterman Beach in Tofino continued its winning streak as Canada’s top beach destination for 2026.

Known for its pristine sands and Pacific Ocean views, it topped the charts with the highest number of 4-star and 5-star ratings on TripAdvisor with 37 per cent of the reviews describing the beach as “beautiful”, while also earning the top spot for “romantic” mentions.

Sandbanks Provincial Park in Picton, Ont. came in second place.

Other Vancouver Island beaches made the top 10, including Long Beach in Tofino at No. 4 and Schooner Cove, also in Tofino, at No. 10.

B.C. and Ontario dominated the top 10. The only beach outside of these two provinces to make the list is Cavendish Beach in Prince Edward Island, which ranks fifth.

“Canada’s beaches attract millions of visitors every year, especially during the summer months, and it’s no surprise that Rathrevor Beach is one of the favourites,” said a spokesperson for Spin Casino. “Thanks to the country’s average temperatures falling between a comfortable 20°C and 25°C, the warm waters and light coastal breezes make it an ideal time for visitors to explore the shores. These top destinations showcase the very best of Canada’s natural beauty.”

Spin Casino analyzed data from TripAdvisor to find 50 of the top beaches across the seven provinces with coastlines, excluding Yukon.

From this data, the number of reviews and ratings above four stars was extracted, as well as reviews that included the phrases “beautiful”, “clean”, “peaceful”, and “romantic”.

Each beach was then assigned an index score out of 500 based on their rating across these data points.
